Free Song (and maybe a free album) from Generation Letter

cd-cover-web-1024x922I have the joy of leading the singing at Next this coming weekend in Baltimore, MD.

I’ll be leading with three bands – The Na Band, Zelos, and Generation Letter. The first two bands have appeared at Next before, but this will be the first time for Generation Letter.

All the members of Generation Letter – John, Stephen, George, Kyle, Abbott, and Alex – are from Metro Life Church in Orlando, FL. Along with leading corporate worship in their local church, they’ve also been busy making a record, winning awards, and serving in other ways. In 2008 and 2009 they won the John Lennon Song Writing contest in the Gospel category. Local radio stations have featured their music, and they’ve also written songs that reflect God’s heart for the unborn.

Their purpose is summed up on their website: “Not only is their vision to create and record great music that magnifies The Creator, but they want to freely share the joy of worshipping God with a biblically informed theology of worship to all who listen to their songs.”

The guys in Generation Letter are not only humble and gifted. They’re generous. They’ve allowed me to give everyone a free song from their new album This is the Story, which will make its debut at Next. They’re also letting me give away ten free downloads of the whole album. All you have to do is leave a comment below by midnight on Thursday, May 27 , and I’ll pick ten names at random on Friday.

Click here to download the song, King of Peace. You can download the guitar chart (in B) by clicking here.

Here are the lyrics:
Verse 1
Lord, your children have not been spared
From this worlds daily trials and cares
We know weakness, fear and sorrow, yet weʼre not alone
You are near in our time of need
You are faithful you hear our pleas
You give grace to all who hope in your mighty name

Chorus
King of peace you calm our raging storms
All we need is found within your arms
We find rest by your quiet stream
King of peace

Verse 2
We were rebels against your reign
We were haters of your great name
When you saved us from your justice and from ourselves
You gave life to our hearts of stone
Made a way for us to your throne
Where we lay down all our burdens at your feet

Bridge
We stand upon your faithfulness As we trust in you
By George Romanacce, Stephen Morgan, John Ripley, and Steve Cook

Thanks for letting us know about this new album.

  57. Michael C May 26, 2010 at 9:17 AM #

Love the song; due to the range, would have to look at alternate keys to use in congregational worship, but it definitely has possibilities.

    • Bob Kauflin May 26, 2010 at 9:19 AM #

Michael, you’re right about the range. At NEXT, we’ll be doing it in B, which makes the top note an E. Still a little high, but I think it will work at a conference for young adults.

  58. Ryan May 26, 2010 at 9:20 AM #

    pick me, pick me!

When I played this single at home, my two and a half year old son immediately started dancing around the room, pumping his fists and bopping his head. It definitely meets his approval! He was even singing along (in toddler-babble) by the end of the song. Very nice!

Hey, I would like to enter Bob! This music and lyrics are so centered in the gospel that churches and Christians should listen to them, Both uplifiting and glorifying to God.

I like the fact that with this song it denotes the King as sovereign and us a s rebels. More good theology is needed in our songs as a church to sing and leave for those who follow. He’s offered us a great life that we must continue to submit to. He is King!

Thank you for this free gift John, Stephen, George, Kyle, Abbott, and Alex and for posting it Bob. Such a reminder of the free gift God gave us through His one and only Son.

May we find rest by your quiet stream as we struggle through the storms of life.

I pray that God’s amazing Holy Spirit will work in a mighty way as you worship and preach at NEXT this weekend.
