Behold Our God (with orchestra)

A while back I held a contest asking people to send us their arrangements of songs from the Sovereign Grace album, King of Grace. Joshua Spacht won the contest with his version of Behold the Lamb.

He recently sent me a version of another Sovereign Grace song, Behold our God, from Risen, written by Jonathan, Ryan, and Meghan Baird, and Stephen Altrogge. Joshua’s church sang it as part of their Christmas service.

While God doesn’t need orchestras, choirs, and great arrangements to glorify his name, he can certainly use them to communicate grandeur, awe, majesty, and more. I think that’s what Joshua and his musicians accomplished through his version of Behold our God. You can download the orchestra parts for free by right-clicking here.

Another wonderful version was done by Parkside Church which can be seen for a limited time here: http://www.parksidechurch.com/learn/sermons/

Thanks, Jack. The song starts around 27:40 on the video.

Should have mentioned that it is the Parkside Christmas Concert video that contains Behold Our God with full orchestra and choir.

I am blessed to be in this choir with Joshua Spacht. It was obvious that this was the most fitting song to close our Christmas concert. As we surrounded the audience and sang our hearts out, this time of worship was so honoring to our Lord. To Him be all the glory!!!

I get chills every time i watch this video. I cannot decide if the song is more powerful when the orchestra is playing or when it goes A Capella at the end!

Where can I find more of his music Mr. Kauflin?

    Thank you.

What a gift! Especially to those of us who aren’t skilled enough to write our own orchestra parts. I’ll look forward to sharing this with our choir and orchestra!

Thank you for your kind words Mr Kauflin. I humbly serve Grace Immanuel Bible Church as part of the music ministry under Joshua’s leadership and direction. It was a privilege and blessing to perform this song as part of our Christmas concert. Please pass along many thanks to the Bairds and Mr Altrogge for their great composition.

Here’s a better link for the Parkside version. I think most folks clicked on the arrangement from their Sunday am service rather than their Christmas Concert. I saw this a couple weeks ago – powerful and majestic! http://www.parksidechurch.com/media-player/2011/12/11/christmas-concert-2011/watch/
Select the song on the right-hand side of the player.

Fantastic. We’re learning this song on Monday at our worship team rehearsal. We’ve been asking the worship leader for a while to learn this one and now the schedule finally allows for it. :)

I attend Grace Immanuel where Joshua is our Minister of Music…I just can’t get enough of this song. It just reaches into my soul and allows me to forget about everything except my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I can just see him in Heaven on his throne with his arms open calling all his people to come forward.

Thank you Joshua for using the gifts that God has given you! This concert was amazing especially this song! I love the trumpets at the end…and how the lights went out and the cross was all we could see! I will keep playing this back over and over again.

I discovered this song at WG11 in Gaithersburg and fell in love with it immediately. To me, it’s the modern-day “How Great Thou Art”. It has quickly become a favorite at Cedar Crest BFC in Allentown.

Thanks for the free orchestration. What a welcome gift! We are using it on Sunday (2/26).

One question – why are the trumpet parts in C instead of Bb?

The praise and worship album put out last year by The Falls Church Anglican before it moved out of its old location, A Thousand Amens. First time I ever heard it, actually. Has a similar majestic feel, though a somewhat different arrangement. On that album it was done by the praise band, choir, congregation…and church pipe organ! The organ gives it an added gravitas. The album’s on iTunes and amazon so check it out :)

This is great thank you Joshua! Any chance you have an orchestra score for the parts you wrote? Or a Finale file? aaron.nicholson@ihcc.org if this is possible!
