Bob,
Love these songs!! Our church is doing O the Deep, Deep Love for our song of the month. Wasn’t that song on the Come Weary Saints album?
Grace upon grace,
Jason
Very Helpful Bob. Thanks for posting the songs.
Thanks, Bob. Worship ’09 was such a blessing! I look forward to teaching some of these great songs to my congregation.
Kendall
What was Steve and Vikki Cook’s role in Here is Love? An alternate verse?
I am introducing The Father’s Love at the end of the month. Thanks for serving me and my church through this conference, through writing songs that glorify the Lord, and through your faithful walk with Christ.
Where can I find an arrangement of Here is Love? I am looking forward to sharing with my congregation.
Catherine, Here is Love is from the Passion Hymns Ancient and Modern CD.
Bob, I’m sure you’re swamped with requests after the conference. I feel a little sorry to add my voice to the fray–but not really, so…
Thanks for the information in the notebook about the hymns of the month. And thank you to all involved posting the chord charts and background (on the Covenant Life site).
I’d love to hear examples of how your church’s bands played the hymns of the month (I heard that a variety of musical groups were involved).
Did a band ever lead “Great is Thy Faithfulness?” Would you consider making that chart available? I’ve struggled “contemporizing” it, well, honestly, even playing it because of the harmonies.
Were the choral parts to “We Sing” written out? If so, any chance of getting that music?
Hope you’re getting some rest and back to normal.
PS
Not sure where the best place is to discuss these. To any observant musicians who attended the conference…
Did any of the acoustic guitarists capo on “The Father’s Love?” To a high sound? How high?
I enjoyed “Praise to the Lord,” but can’t remember specifics about what the band did. Seems to me their chart was different than the Passion recording– did they use those extra measures in the first section? Also, was there more bass movement at “All ye who hear,” where the Passion recording uses a pedal tone? It got big right away. I was able to express it better this way than as a ballad. Christy Nockels sings it beautifully but, you know, laid back. I do like the b7 chord at the end and the added chorus. Maybe it deserves another chance.
Keith,
Thanks for the questions! You can download the CD of our hymns project from the Covenant Life website. You can email me at bob@worshipmatters.com for the guitar chart to Great is Thy Faithfulness. I’ll be posting the choir parts for We Sing in the near future.
We do The Father’s Love in G. A new chart is available at the Sovereign Grace store.
We adapted the Passion version of Praise to the Lord, because like you, we thought the words needed a stronger accompaniment. Although the Passion version is beautiful!
And yes, I’m getting much rest! Thanks for asking.
Hello Bob,
Here is Hello from Canada! The conference was great and I can say without a doubt it has changed me! Thank You! Praise God! I know my whole team has taken a lot from this, in fact this Sunday night we are having a special presentation of some new songs and we are all going to talk about how the conference has impacted us! I am excited!
The songs were great thanks for posting them, but I do have one question. Remember the night when the choir sang, it was very good. I just wish I could here it again. So I was wondering if there was a recording of the choir that could be put up on here? That would be great!
Thank You,
Aaron Perry
Bob,
This was my first conference with Sovereign Grace. Wow. God really used the time to speak to me and now I’m passing that on to my church of <100. Thanks for being available to be used by God in a way that has impacted many, including us down here in Texas.
At the conference, I was in that huge choir and I loved singing “All I Have Is Christ.” I’ve searched the net for a recording and all I found was a very tender, minimally accompanied version by the Na Band. It is nice, but nothing like how we did it at the conference. In my memory, there was a driving groove building up to the chorus, so that when the chorus came, you just couldn’t wait to sing “All I Have Is Christ!!!” Any chance that somewhere in your vaults, you might have a more rocking recording? Otherwise, I’ll just have to work from memory when I introduce it to my church next month. ;-)
I’m still re-listening to the podcasts of the general sessions too. Jeff’s message from Hebrews 10 is still encouraging me “toward love and good deeds.”
Debbie, thanks for your encouragement! You can download a live version of All I Have is Christ at the Sovereign Grace webstore. It’s included as part of a $5 download of 13 songs. You can also watch the video of it at this post on my blog.
Thank you, Bob! My own mother doesn’t reply to my emails as quick as that. ;-)
You guys made it easy to get what I need and get on with the work set before me. Can’t wait for rehearsal tonight. Another chance to love and serve my little “outcropping” of the Body of Christ.
Just wanted to say thanks for your new setting of “Oh the Deep, Deep Love.” I loved the tune when we sang it at WorshipGod09, but figured I wouldn’t be able to use it because the popular setting based on an old Norwegian folk tune is such a favorite in my congregation. After a few months of singing it to myself, and preparing to teach on singing a “new song to the Lord,” I introduced it this Sunday. Not only did I not get stoned, but the people responded very favorably. It won’t replace the older version, but now we have two great settings for a great text. Thanks again.
Any chance that “By This We Know Love” will ever have the lead sheet available?
Amy, we’ll work on it. Thanks for asking.
Amy, you can download the lead sheet and guitar chart for By This We Know Love here.
