Announcing…

Waiting for a CD project to be released is a little bit like having a baby. I say “a little bit” because I’ve experienced absolutely nothing like labor pains that every mother goes through. However, we have been working on this for about nine months…

If you’re a regular reader of Worship Matters, you know how much I appreciate The Valley of Vision. Edited by Arthur Bennet, The Valley of Vision is a collection of prayers and devotions from various Puritans, including John Bunyan, Richard Baxter, and Isaac Watts. We might assume that people who lived three hundred years ago wouldn’t have many relevant things to say to us about what it means to love God. And we would be so wrong. These men knew their hearts, their Savior, and their God—and they really knew how to pray. And we have much to learn from them.

At the end of last year, I asked the Sovereign Grace songwriters to work on songs that incorporated some of the thoughts, phrases, and themes of these prayers.  My hope was that we could capture some of their theological depth, godly passion, and Christ-exalting expressions in song. The result was our new CD, Valley of Vision.

Although Valley of Vision will be officially released next week at the WorshipGod06 Conference, you can order it now at our online store. You’ll be among the first in line to receive copies when they’re shipped after the conference ends.

If you want to know more about Valley of Vision, including lyrics, comments from songwriters, and a video trailer, you can visit the album website.

I’m looking forward to the release of this album. The sample songs I’ve downloaded have already been a blessing to me (In the Valley, The Precious Blood, O Great God, How Deep and Who Made Me to Know You).

It’s good that you’ve gone away from the drums in some of the songs – I feel that many Christian artists have forgotten how to record a song without them, which is sad as I really feel they are used too much in worship music. Sometimes in worship we need to “be still and know”, and that includes in music. In iTunes I have a playlist called Songs of Reflection – they’re songs that cause me to reflect on the goodness of God in my life, and most of them don’t have any drums in them. Now I’m not saying that drums are totally out, but I feel they’re overused.

Anyway, really looking forward to this album being released. :D

Thankyou Bob and Sovereign Grace for putting out this CD!
My wife and I have been reading through The Valley of Vision together since we were married in November. It has been such an encouragement to us and we can’t wait to hear these prayers put to song.

I am really looking forward to hearing the new CD as my wife and I have just discovered “The Valley Of Vision” and it has been a wonderful blessing in a difficult time in our lives.

I was wondering, will the CD be available from download from Songbox? I couldn’t find it there yet. We live in the UK but have downloaded and been blessed through a lot of Sovereign Grace worship.
