I have the joy of leading the singing at Next this coming weekend in Baltimore, MD.
I’ll be leading with three bands – The Na Band, Zelos, and Generation Letter. The first two bands have appeared at Next before, but this will be the first time for Generation Letter.
All the members of Generation Letter – John, Stephen, George, Kyle, Abbott, and Alex – are from Metro Life Church in Orlando, FL. Along with leading corporate worship in their local church, they’ve also been busy making a record, winning awards, and serving in other ways. In 2008 and 2009 they won the John Lennon Song Writing contest in the Gospel category. Local radio stations have featured their music, and they’ve also written songs that reflect God’s heart for the unborn.
Their purpose is summed up on their website: “Not only is their vision to create and record great music that magnifies The Creator, but they want to freely share the joy of worshipping God with a biblically informed theology of worship to all who listen to their songs.”
The guys in Generation Letter are not only humble and gifted. They’re generous. They’ve allowed me to give everyone a free song from their new album This is the Story, which will make its debut at Next. They’re also letting me give away ten free downloads of the whole album. All you have to do is leave a comment below by midnight on Thursday, May 27 , and I’ll pick ten names at random on Friday.
Click here to download the song, King of Peace. You can download the guitar chart (in B) by clicking here.
Here are the lyrics:
Verse 1
Lord, your children have not been spared
From this worlds daily trials and cares
We know weakness, fear and sorrow, yet weʼre not alone
You are near in our time of need
You are faithful you hear our pleas
You give grace to all who hope in your mighty name
Chorus
King of peace you calm our raging storms
All we need is found within your arms
We find rest by your quiet stream
King of peace
Verse 2
We were rebels against your reign
We were haters of your great name
When you saved us from your justice and from ourselves
You gave life to our hearts of stone
Made a way for us to your throne
Where we lay down all our burdens at your feet
Bridge
We stand upon your faithfulness As we trust in you
By George Romanacce, Stephen Morgan, John Ripley, and Steve Cook

I’ve never heard of the band. But I’m not from Florida either….
All the best for NEXT guys. May God’s name be proclaimed loud and clear.
Great sounding band….gutted I’m not in America or in my 20’s…or I’d be at NEXT. Mind you, I’ll download the talks!
This song is fantastic! Thanks for sharing this music and we love reading your blog.
bring on Generation Letter! Have pity on an Aussie who wants a free cd…
It’s great to be reminded that excellent God-centered songwriting was not confined to a particular generation a couple of centuries back. Thanks for the introduction to Generation Letter.
Sounds like a great band. I always appreciate the music from Sovereign Grace. So, if you pick something, I know it’s good and God-glorifying.
Great stuff! Its tough to find solid Christian music…
Great contest, Bob. May the Lord bless you and the various groups as you serve at NEXT! Thanks for the song.

Sounds great! Wish I could be at NEXT this year, but at least my daughter will be there for the first time. Yeah!
Thanks for letting us know about this new album.
Love the song; due to the range, would have to look at alternate keys to use in congregational worship, but it definitely has possibilities.
Michael, you’re right about the range. At NEXT, we’ll be doing it in B, which makes the top note an E. Still a little high, but I think it will work at a conference for young adults.
pick me, pick me!
Great song and band. Thanks for sharing!

Wouldn’t it be great if a guy from Tennessee won it? That’s not very compelling, is it? Still, I’d love to get the new CD from Generation Letter. I love seeing the 70+ year olds in my church singing NA songs like “All I Have is Christ” and “God Over All.”
(So you know, we’ve got younger folks, too)
Pick me! Pick me! :)

This infant in grace is grateful for your generous gift of this gospel centered song.
Thanks for the giveaway…grateful for you guys and the theology that you send forth through your music
King of Peace is a great song!
I would love a copy of their album. I am excited that Generation Letter is also going to taking part in leading for the Next conference.
When I played this single at home, my two and a half year old son immediately started dancing around the room, pumping his fists and bopping his head. It definitely meets his approval! He was even singing along (in toddler-babble) by the end of the song. Very nice!
Thanks for the free song! Will have to pass it on to my little sister also.
Great sound and great lyrics! Thanks for the effort that went into making this song! It’s powerful.
Thanks for the free download! Hopeful to hear more!!!
Hey, I would like to enter Bob! This music and lyrics are so centered in the gospel that churches and Christians should listen to them, Both uplifiting and glorifying to God.
I would love to hear the rest. Thanks for all your work.
nice lyrics – i haven’t gotten to download the song yet (gotta wait till i get home!). i appreciate the corporate viewpoint in the lyrics – we, we’re, etc..
Count me in. I’d love to hear the rest of this album.
I like the fact that with this song it denotes the King as sovereign and us a s rebels. More good theology is needed in our songs as a church to sing and leave for those who follow. He’s offered us a great life that we must continue to submit to. He is King!
i would love that new album! thanks for your ministry, bob, all the way from california!
Great song. Thanks for the hook up!
Great song. Wish NEXT were visiting the NW next…
Thanks for encouraging other musicians in this way, Bob, and helping us find other Christ-exalting music!
I like the song a lot. Thanks!
What a wonderful message. King of Peace you calm the raging storm. Beautiful comforting leaving me speachless.
Thank You
Poor college intern seeks free, new album filled with God-glorifying songs. Please help me find the one!
Enjoying this new song! Thank you!
Thank you for this free gift John, Stephen, George, Kyle, Abbott, and Alex and for posting it Bob. Such a reminder of the free gift God gave us through His one and only Son.
May we find rest by your quiet stream as we struggle through the storms of life.
I pray that God’s amazing Holy Spirit will work in a mighty way as you worship and preach at NEXT this weekend.
Thanks!
Thanks for the free song! Love your blog.
Love it!
