Things have been hopping around the Louisville office of Sovereign Grace Music. Here’s some of what we’ve been up to.
Worship Matters Intensives and Video
We recently finished our first Worship Matters intensive and will be recording the 12 part video series at the beginning of August. I’m praying churches will be able to use this in conjunction with my book, Worship Matters, to equip teams, pastors, musicians, and leaders. We’re also working on scheduling more intensives this coming year. If you’d like to be added to a list for future intensives, let me know through the Contact tab above.
Future Albums
I recently finished listening to the mixes for our third Together for the Gospel album. I’ve been affected numerous times just listening to 10,000 voices belting out gospel-rich hymns. And I think the collection of hymns we have this time is fantastic. Look for it some time early fall.
We were planning on recording a live album this summer but we wanted to give more time to writing songs. We’re looking to record it some time in early 2017 on the theme “Prayers of the Saints.”
Upcoming Events – United States
We’ve also been planning a number of regional events for the coming year. Here’s a list of what’s coming up:
The Gathering, Charlotte, North Carolina, Aug. 26-27, 2016
My son, Devon, will be joining me for this event, to be held at Crossway Community Church. We’ll be focusing on how to build our meetings around the gospel at the Friday night event, while Saturday will cover topics including worship as receiving, God’s presence, putting songs together, and playing as a band. I’ll also be speaking at a lunch on Thursday at Reformed Theological Seminary.
WorshipGod: Called to be Faithful, Frisco, TX, Sept. 15-17, 2016
This will be our first regional WorshipGod conference (of many), and hosted by various Sovereign Grace Churches. This one will take place at Grace Church Frisco. We’ll be joined by our good friend, Matt Boswell. In the past WorshipGod conferences have been national conferences held Wednesday night through Saturday afternoon. This year we’re trying something new and hosting three regional conferences, all starting on Thursday night. We think the change will enable more teams and pastors to attend, as it will be a day shorter and significantly cheaper. This conference will draw from the theme of WorshipGod13 and explore how God ultimately values not our popularity or innovation, but our faithfulness.
Prepare Him Room concerts, Louisville, KY and Knoxville, TN, Dec. 2 and 3, 2016
We’re planning on two Prepare Him Room concerts this year., one in Louisville, KY on Friday, Dec. 2, the other at Cornerstone Church in Knoxville, TN. I’ll be posting more details here this fall. It’s a great event to bring unsaved family and friends to, as we celebrate the incarnation in Scripture, song, and prayer.
WorshipGod Northeast, Glen Mills, PA, March 30-April 1, 2017
The second regional WorshipGod conference, hosted by Joseph Stigora and Covenant Fellowship Church. We have yet to nail down the theme, but topics will include healthy tensions in worship, God’s presence, musical and technical skills, and more. This conference will probably reflect more of a multi-ethnic flavor. Registration will open some time this fall.
WorshipGod MidWest, Louisville, KY, July 27-29, 2017
This will be our third WorshipGod conference in Louisville, but like the other regional conferences, it will start on Thursday night. We haven’t decided on the theme yet, but we’ll be giving the same attention to matters of theology, the heart, and skills. Registration will open in early 2017.
Upcoming Events – Non-US
True Worshipers, Bristol, England, 23 Sept. 2016
This will be a one day event with CJ Mahaney and Jeff Purswell. sponsored by Grace Church Bristol and Sovereign Grace Churches UK and Ireland. This will be aimed at anyone involved in planning or leading the music on Sundays. That includes pastors, musicians, vocalists, and leaders. Non-UK attendees get a 25% discount.
Volvamos a la Palabra, Caguas, Puerto Rico, Nov. 11-12, 2016
I’ll have the joy of participating in this ReformaDos conference to be held at Torre Fuerte Iglesia de la Ciudad. Sovereign Grace Music has been sung increasingly in Hispanic churches due in no small part to the two live albums we recorded at La IBI, El Dios que Adoramos and La Salvación es del Señor.
New Website
Numerous people have thanked us for our current website and how easy it is to listen to, search for, and download music from all our albums. But we’ve been working hard on a new website that will include a slick mobile-friendly format and a Scripture reference search feature. We think you’ll love it.
It’s a privilege to keep doing what we’ve been committed to for thirty years: to produce Christ-exalting music and training for local churches from local churches. If you ever have any thoughts on how we can do it better, please let me know!
Love it! So grateful for this ministry! (Also, I think you mean Frisco, *Texas?)
JM, I did mean Texas. Thanks!
I would love to see a future Sovereign Grace event happen in the New York City area.
I can’t wait for the next WorshipGod event in Louisville. I would like to try and bring some of my worship team this time.
Also, I hope to attend the Prepare Him Room Concert in Louisville. Where will the concert be held and when will tickets be available?
Jeffrey, glad you’re planning on joining us for WorshipGod in Louisville! We haven’t nailed down the location for the Prepare Him Room concert in Louisville, yet, but I will be posting on it here when we do.
Bob, thanks for the updates. Small correction: the event in Bristol, UK is in 2016, not 2017. Hoping to send a few folks from Munich to be there.
Steve, looks like I missed a few things on this post! Yes, it’s 2016. Would be great to see some of your people there!
Thanks for all you are doing to build up the church!
It’s a joy and a privilege, John!
We want to bring a group from Wisconsin to the “prepare Him room” concert in Louisville. Are there any more details about this event that you can provide? Thanks!
Thanks for asking, Dan. We’re finalizing details right now. Some folks couldn’t make it and we’re making sure we have replacements. Right now, we’re still planning on having it 7:30 PM, Dec. 2 in Louisville. The Sovereign Grace Music Facebook and Twitter will be the first with the news.
Thanks so much! We look forward to it! Also, one other question, will this event be more of a concert or will we be singing with the band? Thanks!
We plan on doing both!
Looks like a busy year ahead! Thank you for your ministry Bob.
Any further details on Worship God MidWest 2017 in Louisville this summer? Any way that I can get on a list to be notified when registration opens? We attended two years ago and can’t wait for this summer! Thanks for all you do to spur us on for the sake of the Gospel!
Thanks, Jeremy! We’re putting together the details now. When registration opens I’ll post it on this blog.
