We’re three weeks away from WorshipGod09: From Generation to Generation (Aug. 5-8) and the last day for registering is next Wednesday, July 22. Where has the summer gone?
So many things I’m looking forward to about the conference. With the help of my good friend, Jeff Purswell, I finally nailed down what the topics of the main sessions are going to be. They’re all related to significant issues to think about as we pass corporate worship from generation to generation.
Wed. PM – The God of Worship (John Piper)
Thurs. AM – The Heart of Worship (John Piper)
Thurs. PM – The Leaders of Worship (Jeff Purswell)
Fri. AM – The Church of Worship (Thabiti Anyabwile)
Fri. PM – Lessons Learned from Three Decades of Leading (CJ Mahaney and Bob Kauflin)
Sat. AM – The Future of Worship (Bob Kauflin)
In addition, Keith and Kristyn Getty will be singing for us on Thursday morning, and Shai Linne will be sharing his unique brand of Christian hip-hop on Friday morning. We’re planning on some great giveaways both in the main sessions and in many of the seminars.
We plan to release our new CD, Sons and Daughters, at the conference. It’s a collection of songs that celebrate the joy of being adopted into God’s family through Christ. They center around the theme of 1 John 3:1: “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” We’ll be learning some of the songs at the conference.
If you’ve been to previous WorshipGod conferences, you’ll see some new faces this year. Zelos, who helped lead worship at the Next conference, will be leading us on Thursday night, accompanied by a 10 piece string section. Ben Gowell, guitarist for Sara Groves and Paul Baloche, will be teaching two seminars on playing electric. David Ward, a friend from Minnesota, will be teaching a seminar on Reviving the Hymns. And in keeping with our theme, you’ll see a lot of younger faces this year, passing on what they’ve learned from previous generations.
Hope you’ll be able to join us. We have just over 100 spaces left, so you might want to check out the WorshipGod site sooner rather than later.
As always, I appreciate your prayers that everyone who comes to the conference would be equipped, encouraged, and edified, and that our great Savior would be magnified in all we do. Thanks.
Awesome program, I’m excited already…thank you for all your hard work. I’m very much looking forward to going!
