From Album to Sunday Morning

When Sovereign Grace produces an album, one of our main goals is to write songs that can be sung by local churches. Songs that are singable, memorable, and theologically informed.

Another one of our goals is to make albums that are musically creative enough to bear repeated listenings without sounding tired. Those two goals can compete with each other, at times making it challenging to take a song on an album to Sunday morning.

One of the ways we’re hoping to address that issue is by producing training videos that present songs as they might be played in a small group. You can find one for Jesus Lives here and one for You Have Been Raised here.

Another way is to offer more resources, including videos and sheet music, that show how we’re doing some of these songs in the church.

This past Easter, while I was over preaching at Grace Church in Bristol, UK, Ken Boer had a choir lead my home church in singing “You Have Been Raised,” from our recent album Risen. This was the result:

You can download the band chart here. Right click here or on the image below to download the choir arrangement. You can also get the string parts by right-clicking here.

Bob I seriously JUST came on to your website to email you about this! I was wanting the chorus arrangement and chord chart for this Easter presentation and BOOM, there it is. Unfortunately your site was freaking out at the moment so it was like someone holding candy just out of reach (yes, I love candy). But thank you for posting music for your Easter presentation. I loved the recorded version of “You Have Been Raised” and your Easter version is EXACTLY what I’m looking to do to teach the song corporately. Thank you!

Hi Bob, this is wonderful. Would love to do this next Easter with our Band/Choir/Orchestra. Any chance you could post the orchestral parts too?
    Every blessing to you
    Peter

Bob, The pdf file for the choral part doesn’t work-just freezes. Do you know what is happening? Thanks for your generosity in helping churches spread the gospel in song!

Bethany, thanks. That is a problem. I’ll have someone smarter than me look into it.

Old old thread, but I noticed that the video link doesn’t work anymore. I’d like to show that video to my band as a demonstration of the song, since it is a little different from the recording. Any chance the video can be re-enabled? Thanks!

Jonathan, thanks for asking. Sorry, but we don’t have access to that video anymore.
