Four People Are Going to WorshipGod West for Free

CrowdWorshipGod2013 West: Called to Be Faithful is a little over five weeks away (June 27-29) and some of the seminars are beginning to fill up. We have a great list of teachers lined up this year, both in the main sessions and the breakouts. Kevin DeYoung, Craig Cabaniss, Jon Payne, Donald Whitney, John Martin, Steve & Vikki Cook, Sherri Gould, and more.

In addition, Enfield will be leading us in song for a session, and Matt Papa will be joining us to share a few songs. As always, there will be a few surprises, a lot of laughter, and rich times of worshiping God through song, preaching, and fellowship. I’m especially excited about this year’s theme, which focuses on seeking to be faithful to proclaim the gospel with the resources God has given us, however big or small our church may be.

We’ll also be introducing some songs from our new album, Grace Has Come: Songs from the Book of Romans, which we’ll be releasing later this summer (you can watch a demo of Grace and Peace here). If you’re needing more reasons to come, I shared twelve of them in a previous post.

But it may be you want to come and just don’t have the money. Well, I’ve got good news for you. You have the opportunity to win a free registration. That’s right. Free.

Here’s the deal. Leave a comment below and share in 50 words or less (that’s right, 50 words…not looking for a magnum opus here) why I should give you the free registration. By the way, you can also enter for someone else. If you leave more than one comment, each comment has to be for a different person. I’ll pick two of the best answers and two names at random (knowing nothing is really “random” Prov. 16:33).

You have until 11:59 PM EST on Thursday, May 23 to leave a comment. I’ll announce the winners this coming Friday, May 24.

The clock is ticking…

I’m in a church in Michigan that has a goal of planting 100 churches in Michigan. We want to resource the church plants with conferences, coaching, etc… As the worship pastor, this conference would allow me to interact with experts in the field who could give me feedback on this mission.

  2. Samuel Blakey May 20, 2013 at 2:55 PM #

I am a recent college graduate who just raised money to go on a trip with my school choir to Israel! (so I have no money to pay for the conference) This time has made me want to continue growing in my worship of God. I am also in worship ministry at my church in Orange County.

  3. Ray Gutierrez May 20, 2013 at 3:02 PM #

His name is Bryce. not a believer yet. I want him to experience the Glory and Greatness of Jesus Christ through worship.

  4. Mike Cummins May 20, 2013 at 3:09 PM #

Not for me but for the leaders of my churches worship teams. Their passion is heartfelt worship with songs that are biblically grounded. Your conference would be such an encouragement for them!

  5. Tan May 20, 2013 at 3:29 PM #

Not doing the same for the East Conference? :(

  6. Josh Manriquez May 20, 2013 at 3:36 PM #

By God’s grace, I have been leading the music ministry at my church for almost a year. I’m trying to pay off school loans, so I’m focusing a lot on spending money wisely, yet I’m still coming up short on funds.

(By the way, I’ve already registered, so if I can get a reimbursement that would be sweet)

  7. Ben Ito May 20, 2013 at 3:44 PM #

After getting excited about the chance to get a member of our music ministry free reg to the conference- I was convicted that I need to make it happen for them, and trust the Lord to provide. It would be a blessing though, Bob. See you in June.

  8. Blake Sager May 20, 2013 at 3:44 PM #

I am a recently married music major at a seminary in texas. Without sponsorship, there’s no way i can make it. :)

  9. Wesley Wong May 20, 2013 at 3:51 PM #

Why should you give me free registration?

    Why not?

  10. Nick Welch May 20, 2013 at 3:57 PM #

I have a couple college students working under me & I would love to give them the opportunity to see that Gospel centered worship is alive & well in churches other than our own. It would be a great encouragement for them.

  11. Wesley Wong May 20, 2013 at 4:04 PM #

God often used the most unlikely candidates to do great works for his kingdom – David, a shepherd; Mary, a teenage girl; Paul, a persecutor of the church. I am not a worship leader, but I am a worshiper of the Lord, and this conference will enhance my view of worship.

  12. Eddie Kaiger May 20, 2013 at 4:08 PM #

I am a young college student serving as one of the worship leaders of a new, growing multicultural service that sprouted from a Russian church. I was desperate to go to this conference until I realized I couldn’t finance the trip. This opportunity would be a life-transforming experience that would impact my ministry and my passion for worship.

  13. Janet May 20, 2013 at 4:59 PM #

My husband is a worship leader and drummer for our church in Orange county and I would love to surprise him with a ticket to this conference. I just know that he would learn a ton from this conference and be blessed as well. I also hope that he’d find encouragement from other worship leaders and musicians who will be attending the conference, as our church is small and he does not get much interaction with other Christian musicians. Also, both he and I are huge fans of sovereign grace music!

  14. George Evans May 20, 2013 at 5:27 PM #

I’ve been leading worship at Gashland Evangelical Presbyterian Church for almost 6 years now. I have never been to a conference because we have not been able ot afford to budget it in. In the past 6 years our team has dwindled My part-time position is more like a full-time position trying to round up team members each week. I could use a lot of help in learning how to get people fired up and wanting to use their gifts as part of a worship team, because what our leadership and I have been doing is not working.

Yes Bob I am the George Evans that use to be in George King and the Fellowship.

BTW Love, love, love your book! I go back and re-read sections often..

Grace and peace to you and I’ll be praying for the conference and all involved.

  15. Chris May 20, 2013 at 5:51 PM #

Reasons why you should give us a free registration:
    1. Can’t afford it! My husband and I are Newlyweds!
    2. Can’t think of another Conference to replace the Resolved Conference!
    3. Can’t think of a better way to Refresh our Soul and take an annual inventory! :)
:) Praying for His will to be done!

  16. Bethany Ellsworth May 20, 2013 at 6:08 PM #

I’d love for my brother Paul Ellsworth to go free, as a token of grace for his faithful leading of music at our church. This is not a paid position, and it is in addition to his full-time job. He has faithfully graced our church with his abilities to arrange, compose, and coordinate music with weekly sermons to benefit the church.

  17. Matthew Nixon May 20, 2013 at 6:24 PM #

Less than 2 years ago, I had no idea about leading people before God’s Throne in worship with my voice and a guitar. I’ve always been “the drummer”. But God will use anyone willing to further His cause. I started leading high school ministry and was recently brought on church staff as worship leader at a new church plant- Praise God! I would love the opportunity to learn more about leading in worship! Also, thank you for your book Worship Matters. I’m going through it with my Worship Pastor and it has meant a lot to this 23 year old!

  18. Anthony Torres May 20, 2013 at 7:08 PM #

We’ve met a few times. I serve on sound at Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena and my amazing wife is on the secretary staff and worship team (Yes, we love the Bairds too). Money is tight as newlygrad, newlyweds, we would be immensely grateful to be chosen for this.

  19. Lou Kochanek May 20, 2013 at 7:52 PM #

Money is tight, as it is with many people. But God is good! Paying off my school loans (theology & worship leading degree from Regent U), putting 2 kids through college, wife out of a job soon…As a worship leader, I could use some refreshment, training, fellowship, time away. Please?

  20. Kari Romoser May 20, 2013 at 8:44 PM #

I have been in my church praise band for 3 years. At first I was incredibly insecure. I had only been clean & sober for 2 years upon starting. I can’t speak to what God has done in my heart in under 50 words. But, it has been life changing.

  21. Kari Romoser May 20, 2013 at 8:49 PM #

I read your book. I read your blog. I’m in my church praise band. I have 5 years sobriety. And, I give all of the glory to my Lord & Savior. I desperately want to know Him more. Worship has been healing to my mind, soul, and body.

  22. Jeff Rushlow May 20, 2013 at 9:02 PM #

Because I could take the savings and buy 20 more copies of Worship Matters: Leading Others to Encounter the Greatness of God by a guy named Bob something to go with the three we have making the rounds – then everyone on the team could have a copy.
    Word Count: 49

  23. Gordon Moore May 20, 2013 at 9:14 PM #

I have been pastor of a smaller Baptist church near Dallas, TX for nearly two years. My daughters introduced me to SG Music 6 years ago. We are in the early stages of seeing God transform our church and your music has been a great part of it. As much as I would love to go, I want to ask you to send our worship leader, Bethany Jenkins. She has been leading for 4 months and is doing a great job. I think this would be a tremendous encouragement for her.

  24. Nick May 20, 2013 at 9:38 PM #

Prayed specifically about an opportunity to go to the EAST conference last week despite financial barriers…what are the chances there will be a similar chance for the East conference?

    • Bob Kauflin May 20, 2013 at 11:48 PM #

Nick, planning on doing something similar for East in another blog post.

  25. Lindsey Fleming May 20, 2013 at 9:49 PM #

I’m an unpaid worship intern/band leader at one church and also lead a Capella worship at a another local church. God has revealed over the past few years that worship ministry is what I need to work toward, so I am. I just want to learn and fellowship!

  26. Phil Mershon May 20, 2013 at 10:13 PM #

While I’ve led worship for years, I just started working with a 140-year old church in downtown Wichita. I’m hungry to learn how to lead worship that is multi-generational, multi-ethnic and multi-styled while keeping true to the Gospel. I believe the WorshipGod gathering is the best place for that.

  27. Jeremy Loyola May 21, 2013 at 3:22 AM #

I have never been to a Worship God conference and I have just learned about it. I am also a Praise team leader and would like to know more about Worship God.

  28. Phil Moore May 21, 2013 at 4:48 AM #

I’m a worship leader based at a church in Nottingham, England and lead worship at events around the UK. We are very excited about the prospect of a WorshipGod conference coming to the UK next year, I’d love to be able to share with evangelical churches in the UK of the great work that you’re doing, speaking about it from the experience of being there. I am passionate about writing songs which sing the story of the gospel, and our glorious God.

  29. keila mercedes-Lechene May 21, 2013 at 7:55 AM #

I would love to be part of this event and take with me two other members of my church praise team , that would include my 15 years daughter. i want both to be encouraged and get more serious with worship leading .

  30. Aaron May 21, 2013 at 9:00 AM #

Please bring Matt Papa to Worship God East!

  31. Spencer Barfuss May 21, 2013 at 9:52 AM #

I’ve actually never been to a worship conference, but have felt that I could benefit from going to one and growing in this area of ministry. I currently help lead worship to a number of high school students at our church Bayou City Fellowship. I would love to take what I learn there, and bring it back to use in our ministry with our high school students.

  32. Paul May 21, 2013 at 11:09 AM #

Hello Bob Kauflin, I believe God is Sovereign, and I would love to win a free ticket to the worship conference. I have been desiring to come in the previous years, but had not the opportunity. I believe that this conference will be greatly beneficial for me. I’m a committed member of Grace Bible Church of Fair Oaks, and lead in song.
    Thanks.

  33. Kevin May 21, 2013 at 12:38 PM #

I’m looking for a wife to do music ministry with and I don’t have the chance to meet anyone because I serve every weekend as Worship and Sr High Director.

  34. Jason Oglesby May 21, 2013 at 1:51 PM #

    For the glory if God!
I am spending my summer in mission for Him, along with my family. I enjoy/ welcome worship and growing in Christ. No better way to end a summer of mission, worship and teaching, than more praise and worship and teaching with Worship God 2013.

  35. Diane Weston May 21, 2013 at 2:43 PM #

For three years, our church has not had a worship pastor; instead have five people who make up our Music Team, of whom I am one. I plan our services, and it sounds like our church would greatly benefit from my going to the conference.

  36. Adam B Burrell May 21, 2013 at 3:50 PM #

Singing is the purest expression of our praise to the Lord. “Worship is eternal” John Piper has rightly said, and I would love to come and be a part of something that is practice for my eternal state. . . for my hope is built on nothing less.

  37. Brian Miller May 21, 2013 at 4:04 PM #

At the WorshipGod conference I felt a overwhelming calling from the Lord to go into fulltime ministry. I had been leading worship for several years but never in a full-time capacity. At worshipGod 12 I felt this calling more than ever. I asked those who were accompanying me to the conference if they felt I would be following the Lord in this and they affirmed this as well. I returned home after the conference and the Lord removed my current employment the day I returned home and then led to to a church as a fulltime pastor of outreach and worship within 3 weeks. At my new church I would love to now introduce some of my worship team but don’t have the funds to do so. Love to come back and hear what God has in store for me at the conference or for those I bring along.
Praise the Lord for this conference! He does great things through it!
    Pastor Brian

  38. José May 21, 2013 at 4:07 PM #

I live in SoCal and this would be the first time to attend one of your events. I would love to go!

  39. José May 21, 2013 at 4:08 PM #

Entry 2: And, I would love to bring my wife Laura.

  40. Steve Davis May 21, 2013 at 4:29 PM #

God has recently led me to be the pastor of adult ministries at a church in CA. One of my responsibilities is providing vision for the worship ministry. I have been facing some resistance in philosophy & especially the necessity for theologically rich, gospel-centered worship, & I believe attending the conference & learning from the wisdom of those involved would aid me in how to graciously & humbly focus our worship ministry on His infinite worth.

  41. Janice Hwang May 21, 2013 at 4:44 PM #

Piper said, “Missions exists because worship doesn’t.” I will lead a mission team to Cambodia&Thailand one week after the conference. Fear grips me in this position of vulnerability but worship fixes my eyes on Him. I would like to take what I learn from WG onto the mission field and display the magnificence of God’s glory through pure worship.

  42. Chaz Celaya May 21, 2013 at 8:22 PM #

I teach Worship Leadership at a Bible College in Southern California and have been using “Worship Matters” as our textbook for the past two years. It’s really been a blessing to so many students. I would love to come and hear more firsthand!

  43. Beatrice Chung May 21, 2013 at 9:55 PM #

My friend Janice is going on a mission trip to Thailand & Cambodia this summer & all the money she has is going toward her mission funds. She has a big heart & a passion for worship! It would be a WONDERFUL opportunity for her to learn more about worship before she leaves for missions!

    http://www.razoo.com/story/Janice-Hwang

  44. Christina Kim May 21, 2013 at 10:02 PM #

Janice is a dear sister who over the past several years, I have been so privileged to see grow tremendously in her faith. I know that her experience through this conference will bless not only her but also her team as she leads a missions team out to Cambodia/Thailand this summer. CHOOSE HER!!

  45. Matt Hoage May 21, 2013 at 10:22 PM #

I am one of the worship leaders at my church in Wisconsin, and the person before me went to WorshipGod 2006 and couldn’t stop talking about it. I’ve always wanted to go to one since, but it never worked out. It would be a great opportunity for my wife and I to go!

  46. Daniel Mitchell May 21, 2013 at 11:15 PM #

    Hi Bob!
Currently: Part-time job looking for full-time, still being sustained partially by parents. Looking into changing directions from current pursuit of physical therapy to leading congregational singing and creating music. Desire to learn from experienced brothers who are currently leading singing in local church. Would love to go.
    Thanks!

  47. Steve Baehr May 22, 2013 at 12:01 AM #

You said it, Bob: I “want to come and just don’t have the money.”

But, since I only live about 45 minutes away, I wouldn’t need to pay for lodging. That means I would only need to come up with gas money. But my drummer works in Tustin and would probably give me a ride! I’ll just need to ask him if he has the time to take me. Which I’m sure he does because he’s a drummer!

Imagine that! A drummer with no time!!! Ah hahaha!

  48. Josh Staley May 22, 2013 at 2:48 PM #

I don’t deserve to go to the conference for free. I also don’t deserve to have a relationship with God (Rom 5:8) but He sent His son to secure for me an eternal relationship with Him at no cost to me (other than my life but whose counting) (Eph 2:8-9) Eph 5:1 says we are to be imitators of God. Sovereign Grace music seeks to honor the word of God. Therefore I should win these passes;)

  49. Chris Michaels May 22, 2013 at 2:57 PM #

We’re the home church for 4 plants in the San Francisco Bay Area and we’re dying for resources to bring our greater community together. Our Worship leaders need more resources and equipping to bring this highly independent region together in Christ as a unified body.

  50. Brent & Grace Chittum May 22, 2013 at 3:00 PM #

Hi Bob, my wife Grace and I live in Oceanside – both Marines. We currently attend Community Bible Church in Vista. We’re transitioning out of a 3 year trial from Grace’s double hip reconstruction and it’s been an absolute JOY to see her return to walking and being pain med-free! We’d love to express our thankfulness to God’s faithfulness through worship! Thanks!

  51. Jeffrey Seavey May 22, 2013 at 3:07 PM #

I would LOVE to send our worship leader, Brian Ehline. Brian has served us at LW for nearly 10 years without ever receiving a dime of compensation. Not only has Brian lovingly, willingly, joyfully and sacrificially served as our Lead Worshiper, but he has also currently serves the church as an elder\pastor. Brian works a full time + job, loves his family well and serves LW with his whole heart. He is a true Christian Hedonist and overflows with joy in all his service. His worship team consists of about 30 people (3-4 teams) which keep him very busy. Brian is married, has 4 children, one of whom was born with Multiple Sclerosis. Nathan is now 14 and loves Jesus and wants to be a worship leader like his dad one day. I hope you’ll choose Brian!! Thank you! Many Blessings!

  52. Insun May 23, 2013 at 2:09 AM #

I have a friend very dear to my heart, who would LOVE a free ticket to the conference! She majors in music at UCD and her dream is to bring worship into our music industry. This opportunity would give her just the right push in confidence and knowledge to do so! Please choose her, she definitely deserves it!! Her name is Beatrice.

  53. Josh May 23, 2013 at 11:15 AM #

I’d like to bring my friend Kyle. He’s 14, in high school and is interested in playing. He began asking me about a year ago and I’ve been talking to him and explaining that a worship leader first of all worships with his life throughout the week, including at school.

He’s battling the influence of high school culture. I think this would be a great opportunity for him to connect and learn with others.

  54. Pat May 23, 2013 at 11:25 AM #

Our church drummer who is a student and really skillful. But I think he needs help and a lot encouragement. And the conference, Lord willing, might be able to refresh his love for the ministry and for the Lord.

  55. Nina May 23, 2013 at 11:27 AM #

My friend and her husband have sought to glorify God in everything they do and serve their church sacrificially in worship. Nothing brings them more joy than expressing their heart for Him in leadership and song writing.

  56. Nicholas May 23, 2013 at 1:06 PM #

I would be so grateful and thankful for an opportunity like this! I am college student who is passionate about the gospel and am exploring careers in worship and youth ministry. I have some friends that are as well that I would be thrilled to bring! I am honored and passionate about being able to be used as an instrument in God’s hands for His glory, to unite His people in praise and worship. To be able to learn more about that and go to this conference would be truly a great blessing! Thank you for an opportunity like this and for your time an consideration.

  57. Frank Emrich May 23, 2013 at 1:53 PM #

Because I have been a pastor for over 30 years (I am 66) and I want to grow in worship. Plus I love your music , and I would love to meet Matt Papa!

  58. Greg D. May 23, 2013 at 5:26 PM #

Yes, money is tight, and this would be a great blessing. Even more, I need the bible and wisdom how to apply that to music ministry. A recent local conference was more hip and trendy. I want to follow Paul’s lead in 1Cor2:1-5 to display God’s power through the gospel.
