WorshipGod West I was talking to David Zimmer, drummer for Enfield, about our next conference, WorshipGod East, taking place Aug. 1-3 in Louisville, KY.
I mentioned that we were offering three pre-conference intensives on July 31, 2:00-5:30 PM, for guitarists, sound personnel, and pianists. In the midst of the conversation he offered to teach one for drummers. He and Ryan Foglesong are already teaching two workshops on The Bass/Drum Connection as part of the conference, but David thought there was plenty more to say to drummers alone. So I said let’s do it.
In this three hour pre-conference session, The Modern Drummer, David will be helping drummers and percussionists at the basic to advanced levels. He’ll talk about various technique tips, independence, syncopation, basic to advanced grooves, plus multiple rhythms and filling options. David will also cover the importance of reading drum music and charting beats. This extended lesson will not only be helpful for novice drummers who are looking to improve their skills but also advanced drummers seeking new ideas and helpful ways to strengthen the overall groove of the team.
If you’ve already signed up for the conference you can go to your registration page and add the pre-conference drum intensive (for $50). If you haven’t yet registered, it will be available as an option when you register.
Will you guys have a recording of this seminar for sale after the conference? We are unable to make it down there for this but it would be really great to be able to listen to this seminar.
Hannah, thanks for asking. Unfortunately, this won’t be recorded. Glad you’re coming to the conference, though!
